1ST DAY (FRI)
JFK/ LARNACA
Evening depart JFK to Cyprus via Athens.
2ND DAY (SAT)
LARNACA/
LIMASSOL
Arrive Larnaca Airport. Transfer to the Appolonia Hotel,
Limassol.
3RD DAY (SUN)
PAPHOS
Full day tour to Paphos, one of the most beautiful parts of
the island. En route we drive through the vineyards of
Phassouri to Aphrodite?s Rock, the birthplace of the
Goddess of Love who, according to the legend, arose from the
waves at this very spot. Just outside Paphos is the charming
village of Yeroskipou, famous for its ?loukoumi?
(Turkish Delight). Here you will visit the Byzantine
Churches and castles. After a stroll around this picturesque
part of the town, you will then call at the Tombs of the
Kings, hewn deep underground in solid rock, before heading
back along the coast. B
4TH DAY (MON)
LIMASSOL
Day at leisure. B
5TH DAY (TUE)
TROODOS
Full day tour to Troodos, Kykko. Journeying through idyllic
mountain villages, unchanged for generations, this tour
takes you to the highest point on the island -Mount Olympus.
After admiring the breathtaking view, you will then drive to
Throni Peak set among the pine-clad mountains to see the
tomb of Archbishop Makarios. From there you will visit the
island?s most famous monastery, Kykko. This magnificent
building dates back to the 12th century. Here you will be
able to admire the miraculous icon of Christ and the Virgin
Mary painted by Saint Luke himself. On the return journey we
shall pause for refreshments at village of Platres. B
6TH DAY (WED)
AT SEA
Morning transfer to MS Seranade. Sail to
Israel. B,L,D
7TH DAY (THU)
JERUSALEM
Arrive in Haifa. Board air-conditioned buses with
professional guide and head south past Mount Carmel, along
the coastal motorway following the trail of the
2,000-year-old Via Maris, the Way of the Sea. We continue to
pass through the cities of Netanya, Herzliyya and Tel Aviv,
catching glimpses of Israel, old and new, and the famous
Jaffa orange groves. Your tour takes you into the heart of
Jerusalem arriving at Jaffa Gate on the west side of the
city of David, the ancient center of Jerusalem. The guide
then leads the way through Jaffa Gate on a walking tour in
the old city through the bazaar, to the Church of the Holy
Sepulchre. Visit Golgotha, where Christ was crucified.
Continue walking through the Moslem Quarter of the old city
and its bazaar, into the Jewish Quarter to overlook the
Western Wall (Wailing Wall) and behind it the Dome of the
Rock. View the Mount of Olives, Garden of Gesthsemane and
Kidron Valley. Continue to Bethlehem, famous for its olive
woodcarvings. Visit the Church of the Nativity, where Christ
was born. Stop at a souvenir shop in Bethlehem. Time
permitting there will be a visit to a Diamond Center on your
return journey to the ship. B,L,D
8TH DAY (FRI)
CAIRO
Arrive Port Said with its colonial architecture. Board
air-conditioned buses to head south towards the capital,
Cairo. The drive through the city gives the opportunity to
see some of the sites of the capital. Stop at the amazing
Egyptian Museum containing some of the most priceless
treasures on earth. Visit Giza, on the outskirts of Cairo
and the site of the most famous Pyramids in Egypt. These
Pyramids are one of the seven wonders of the ancient world.
There is also the opportunity to ride on a camel and have a
picture taken. A papyrus factory making original papyrus
works gives an opportunity to buy some unusual souvenirs.
Pass through Cairo again to return on the same route back to
Port Said. Note: the Cairo Museum places a charge on cameras
when they are taken into the museum. B,L,D
9TH DAY (Sat)
LIMASSOL/ NEW
YORK
Return to Limassol for transfer to Larnaca airport in time
for your flight to JFK via Athens. B
